TCT Woodcutting Bandsaw Blades

TCT (tungsten carbide tipped) woodcutting bandsaw blades are designed for high-volume timber cutting applications where durability, stability, and consistent performance are more important than fine surface finish. Unlike carbon or bi-metal blades, TCT blades use carbide-tipped teeth that retain their cutting edge for significantly longer when working with abrasive, resin-rich, or contaminated timber.

This range features an MC5 (five-chip) tooth pattern, where the kerf is formed progressively rather than in a single cut. The tooth sequence uses three different tooth geometries to create five cutting actions: the first tooth initiates the cut at the centre of the kerf, while the second and third teeth progressively widen the cut, each removing material from both sides. By spreading material removal across multiple cutting actions, peak cutting loads are reduced and cutting stability is improved.

TCT wood blades are typically selected where:

• Blade life is critical

• Cutting volumes are high

• Downtime from blade changes must be minimised

• Timber contains resins, glues, laminations, or mineral contamination

These blades are commonly used for solid timber, reclaimed wood, laminated products, and other demanding woodcutting applications where conventional steel blades wear prematurely.

Due to the hardness of carbide, correct machine setup and consistent feed rates are essential. TCT blades are not intended for cutting through metal fasteners or foreign objects, and impact loading should be avoided.
